Paul Immel, 55, former research services librarian and genealogist at the State Library of Ohio died of cancer at his home in Waverly, Ohio on Wednesday April 21, 2010. He worked in Ohio libraries for almost four decades. At the State Library (1979-2009) he is credited with an unparalleled level of expertise and professional service to the Ohio genealogy community. He was awarded the Silver Medal for Citizenship and Service in 2008 for his contribution to genealogy in Ohio by the Ohio Society, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR). Before the State Library of Ohio, he worked at the Washington County Public Library and Marietta City Schools.
